Hi.

I crave strong, hot coffee and perfectly browned toast, but life often interferes. I choose to search for the beauty and humor in the chaos.

Wands vs. Rollercoasters

Wands vs. Rollercoasters

Every now and then, I forget how different my boys are from each other. While we visited Universal Studios in Orlando, I was reminded.

Both of my sons loved seeing the new Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Diagon Alley. They both love the books and movies so much that they couldn't wait to see their favorite scenes brought to life. That's where the similarities ended.

Josiah wanted to buy an interactive wand so he could "cast spells" all over Diagon Alley, as well as Hogsmeade in Islands of Adventure. After the first couple of spells, Kaden was bored to death and wanted to move onto all of the rides Islands of Adventure had to offer -- rides that he wasn't tall enough for the last time we went to this park.

Kaden wanted to ride the Dueling Dragons roller coaster, Hulk, and Dr. Doom . . . while Josiah preferred performing each of 25 spells at both parks and riding back and forth on the Hogwarts Express train.

Josiah's idea of fun is very different from Kaden's. One idea of fun isn't any better than the other, just different. Scott and I gave them each an opportunity to enjoy the parks the way they wanted. We accept and even celebrate their differences.

The body of Christ is full of individual believers with very different talents and gifts. One talent or gift is no better than another, just different. God created us to be different from each other so that together, we become one body.

"Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other." (‭Romans‬ ‭12‬:‭4-5‬ NLT)

Let's celebrate each other's differences since we are all part of the same body.
